Masturbation is rooted in lust
For me the central reason is rooted in lust. I cannot masturbate without lusting. Lust is clearly defined as a sinful act in scripture so if lusting is wrong and I lust while I masturbate then I deduce that masturbation is wrong.
The second reason that masturbation is wrong would come from a passage out of 1 Corinthians 6:18-19, it speaks of sexual sin being committed against my own body and that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit; in essence the place where God resides is in my body. Read more

Masturbation is an act of lust that requires constant feeding of immoral stimuli in direct contradiction to a Christian’s belief system. In the case of Christian sexual addiction, masturbation becomes a part of their day-to-day living. The consequences can make one feel like their soul is rotting from a cancer with nothing more to look forward than more days of masturbation, death, and giving an account to God on how he wasted away his life masturbating.
